Dead children demand justice, Natural or man-made disaster? The earthquake happened at 14:28 when students were having classes. Stabilities of class buildings became a critical factor of saving students¡¯ lives. But facts are many school buildings collapsed in seconds leaving slim opportunity for students to rush out. Hu Xiaoming, Head teacher of Longju Middle school, said that he rushed out of the office immediately and saw the school building collapsed within seven seconds. He said if the building can hold several seconds longer, students might manage to rush out, In Shifang Democracy central school, the class building collapsed while the teacher office building stands. In Dujiangyang city, a school and a hospital collapsed while buildings around them remained safe. In Luoshui Middle School, teacher office building remained erect while class building besides it collapsed in seconds. These schools now have been famous nationwide for a large number of deaths behind them. Among them, the Luoshui School has been founded for 48 years until the earthquake. There were 50 standard classes, 162 teachers and 2600 students, among which 1700 are board students. Each student had to pay 1,500 School Construction Fee before enrollment. Some parents told me that a wide cleft was found between the office building and class building last year, but the school covered it with ceramic tiles, , Chen Zhengde¡¯ son Chen bing is a senior two student in this school. The father joined the school construction work 21 years ago. He recalled that there was a fierce argument between the school and the construction party over the construction quality. The argument could not be solved and the construction had a suspension at the second floor. Chen Zhengde¡¯s message is supported by Yang Jizhi, a terrazzo floor dealer who took this construction project. He added the even building assessment bureau retreated because they can not solve the quarrel on construction quality. According to the reporter¡¯s extensive inquiry, the contractor of this building then was the second sector of the sixth filiale of the DeYang Construction Company. The principle then was Liu Ping. Yang Jizhi said he did not have any construction experience then. He was selected to take the job just because he had made terrazzo floor for five years. He took the job with three RMB payment a day and asked a dozens of peasants to help him. After the earthquake, Founder of China Youth Fund (CYF)Xu Guangyong said, CYF donated 172 Home Primary Schools in Sichuan. In the earthquake, none of the 172 collapsed and no teacher and student death was reported. Among the 172, Chinese Academy of Science Hope Primary School shared a wall with Beichuan Middle school which collapsed and killed nearly 1,000 students. Xu introduced that technical supervision was maintained and financial supports are also guaranteed all through the construction work of the 172 Home Pramary Schools. There are six Hope Primary Schools in the earthquake center, but no school collapsed. According to Sichuan Administration of Education on May 26, the earthquake killed 4737 students and 1,6000 were injured. In the 67,000 people died in this earthquake, students count for 7%. Till May 29, no figure on student death is released. But in Beichuan middle school along, more than 1,000 students are reported dead. Xu Fang,12-year-old, a student in Shifang Middle School, her classroom was at the ground floor so she managed to rushed out before the building collapsed . She saw students dropped one after another from the building. She said she would never dare to have class in buildings any more.
